Virgin Mobile Australia selects Tripoint Corporation for technology refresh project.

November 2004 - With an Australian mobile phone subscriber base that has grown from zero to over 500,000 in less than four years, Virgin Mobile needed to re-assess its technology plan to ensure future growth requirements could be achieved reliably and effectively.  In order to continue their high levels of service Virgin Mobile initiated 'Grand Slam', a technology refresh.

The technology refresh had to be both innovative and scalable, whilst being based upon "best of breed" technology. Tripoint Corporation was selected as the technical integration partner of choice for the project.

Nick Gatland, Virgin Mobile Australia’s IT General Manager commented "We required a solutions partner that had a strong track record in designing, building and integrating world-class infrastructure solutions.   On a more basic level the supplier needed to be as focused on excellent levels of service as we are.  However, they also needed to have that all important Virgin "can-do" attitude.  Throughout this process we have found Tripoint to be an excellent fit to our needs"

Tripoint has provided a broad range of technology to support the Oracle based convergent billing and customer management solution.  This included HP Itanium Servers, EMC CX600 CLARiiON Storage Area Network, Cisco Switches, Oracle software and a Sun Server Cluster for the core Telco network solution. The solution has been fully implemented and tested by the Tripoint Professional Services team and Tripoint will continue to provide skills transfer and on-going updates.

According to Tripoint Sales Director, Nigel Peach, Virgin Mobile was looking for a trusted technology partner. " In any large project you need to start with a solid technology design and then ensure you have the experience to deliver the project quickly, as delays are expensive. The Tripoint and Virgin Mobile technical teams worked well together and got the job done on time and within budget- which is what it’s about"
